Aqua Pennsylvania Reaches Asset Purchase Agreement with East Norriton Township to Acquire Wastewater System
Aqua America Inc. announced its Pennsylvania subsidiary has signed an agreement with East Norriton Township, Montgomery County to acquire its wastewater assets, serving roughly 4,950 wastewater connections, for $21 million. The agreement falls under Pennsylvania’s Act 12 fair market value legislation.

Fluor Awarded Contract for Teck’s Fording River Water Treatment Facility in British Columbia
Fluor Corporation announced that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract by Teck for the Fording River South Active Water Treatment Facility in the Elk Valley, British Columbia, Canada. Fluor booked the undisclosed contract value in the third quarter of 2018.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park Selects WPL Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment specialist WPL has supplied a packaged wastewater treatment system for Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s new £3.6 million visitor centre. The prestigious outdoor gallery in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, the largest of its kind in Europe, will open its new centre, to be known as The Weston, on 30 March 2019.

A Meet-the-Buyer Water Workshop took place at the Institute of Directors in London on 20 November 2018 and was followed by the trade association’s annual International Reception, which featured a keynote speech from Peter Simpson, chief executive of Anglian Water Group.

Anglian Water has awarded one of the first framework contracts of AMP7 to leak detection specialist Primayer. The £40 million agreement for leak detection products has been awarded jointly to 10 suppliers and will ensure the utility has access to as wide a selection of equipment as possible.

PORR consortium to build tunnel in Świnoujście
The contract for the construction of the Świnoujście tunnel was signed today in the presence of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The project will be implemented by a consortium consisting of PORR, Gulermak and Energopol-Szczecin. The contract value is around EUR 150m and the project is expected to take 48 months to complete.

New drains for Singapore
In Singapore, a Herrenknecht tunnel boring machine (EPB Shield, Ø 5,250 mm) excavated two large drains for the Stamford Diversion Canal. The challenge: winding bottlenecks and an inner-city drive in one of the most densely populated cities in the world. After the final breakthrough of the 1,000 meter long twin tunnels, the new drains will take the pressure off the Singapore River and reduce flooding in future.

Restoring Drinking Water Supply in Downtwon Amsterdam
After the collapse of a drinking water pipeline in downtown Amsterdam, the capacity of the potable water supply network to the town center was significantly reduced. Insituform was contracted to reline a close to 100 year old pipe underneath one of the canals. Water was restored successfully within five days, with minimal impact on traffic and the environment, Insituform worked closely with AOC Aliancys to develop this innpvative relining technology.
