MC-Bauchemie Launches Business Operations in the Philippines
Jun 01, 2021
On 23 September 2020, MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG regis-tered a new, wholly owned company in the Philippines. Having ob-tained the legally required approvals from the authorities, MC-Bauchemie Philippines Inc. commenced operations in the spring of 2021.
“The Philippines is a huge country with a population of over 108 million. The growth prospects in the infrastructure and residential construction sectors are immense there,” says Dr. Ekkehard zur Mühlen, one of the managing directors of MC-Bauchemie GmbH & Co. KG with responsibilities inter alia for the company’s activities in the Asian market. He adds: “Moving forward, we too want to participate in the development of this promising, Southeast Asian market and make a tangible contribution to sustainable and safe construction there with our proven chemical products and technologies."
Shirley Laurel (55) has been appointed to the post of Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie Philippines Inc. A native of the Philippines, she has many years of experience in the ready-mixed concrete and construction chemicals sectors and has also worked for internationally active construction materials manufacturers. Among other roles, she previously served as managing director of the Philippine arm of an internationally active Arabian construction chemicals manufacturer.
“Our long-term strategic goal in Southeast Asia is to become one of the market leaders in the field of construction chemical products and thus to also contribute to the growth of MC-Bauchemie worldwide,” says Lothar Hellenkamp, Regional Manager at MC-Bauchemie and the officer responsible for setting up several country organisations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
MC-Bauchemie Philippines Inc. will initially be run as a sales company, but in the medium term it will also establish production facilities of its own in order to achieve the growth targets envisaged for it.
MC-Bauchemie has been active in the Asian market for over 35 years, now. Following the founding of its own company in India, entities have been established in various other Asian countries over the course of the decades. Today, MC-Bauchemie is represented directly in the United Arab Emirates, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and the Philippines, and in several other countries through distributors.
