MC-Bauchemie Shows Expertise at the RO-KA-TECH 2019
Jun 14, 2019
From 8 to 10 May 2019, MC-Bauchemie participated with its Field of Expertise “ombran – Underground Sewer Systems” at the RO-KA-TECH, the international fair for pipeline, sewer and industrial services in Kassel, Germany, and showed its product portfolio. ombran was supported by HDT, which specializes in automated shaft rehabilitation using MRT methods, and Kanaltechnik Hanke, a specialist processor from Duisburg, which operates a MRT Truck.
The ombran division of MC-Bauchemie specializes on the rehabilitation of underground infrastructures. ombran and Konudur product systems offer solutions for the full range of rehabilitation work encountered in manholes, sewers and accessible as well as non-accessible sewer structures. At this year’s RO-KA-TECH, ombran will focus on coating, sealing and robot rehabilitation systems.
MRT Truck – automated manhole rehabilitation in perfection A big attraction at the fair was the MRT Truck, a mobile, self-contained, integrated system for automatic manhole rehabilitation by coating designed and sold by MC-Bauchemie and its sister company HDT from Bottrop, Germany. MRT stands for Manhole Rehabilitation Technology.
The 7.5 ton version of the MRT Truck which was purchased by Kanaltechnik Hanke in 2018 comprises a mini staff room, its own power, water and compressed air supply systems, a mortar mixer, a mortar pump and also a complete on-board MRT application assembly for automated surface preparation and coating of manhole wall surfaces with special mortars and hybrid-silicate resin systems from MC-Bauchemie resistant against biogenic corrosion by sulphuric acid (BSA).
Manhole rehabilitation at the highest level of performance
MC-Bauchemie also informed about ombran MHP-SP 3000, a new generation of mineral coatings for concrete and masonry manholes and sewers which MC-Bauchemie has introduced into the market last year. Offering exceptionally high chemical and mechanical resistance, it meets the requirements of classification grade B2 / XWW4, the highest applicable to coating mortars according to the exacting German standard DIN 19573.
ombran MHP-SP 3000 has been especially developed for automated application using the MRT process or with the MRT Truck from MC. However, it is equally suitable for spray and manual application. For the long-lasting protection at BSA ombran recommended the long-term tested hybrid silicate special coatings ombran CPS and ombran FT.
The chemically highly resistant and conductive special coating for the rehabilitation of separator systems for fats and light liquids ombran FT can also be applicated automatically by spray application with the MRT system.
Liner-attachment and stopping of water leaks with cartridge system
With the hand-held MC-Fastpack cartridge system, ombran presented a highly effective, yet easy-to-use opportunity for stopping leakages and water ingress. With the pneumatic dispenser "injection gun", highly reactive elastomer and duromer resins in two-component technology can be applicated with cartridges in the simplest and most economical way. Especially in poorly accessible, cramped areas and in areas where a greater expenditure on equipment from an economic point of view is not useful, the compact system has proven itself.
The attachment of pipe liners to drainage and sewer manholes is a highly sensitive area, one in which the occurrence of leaks is a constant concern. With Konudur Flexfit, MC-Bauchemie has developed a reactive resin filler and sealant that can be used to provide a permanently flexible connection for attaching locally curing pipe liners to shafts and manholes easily, quickly and safely.
It can also be carried out using the MC-Fastpack cartridge system. Developed as a special-purpose two-component reaction resin, Konudur Flexfit is characterised by its easy workability, its high moisture compatibility during application, and its very rapid resistance to water. Thanks to its permanent flexibility, it enables a secure, watertight connection of glass and needle felt hose liners.
Robot rehabilitation: Doing work where no one can get
The fair visitors showed also interest for the high-performance reaction resin systems of the Konudur product family which are tailored to common robot systems and convince in addition to optimized mechanical properties and high resistance to chemicals with good application properties. The newly developed Konudur Robopox 18 epoxy resin completes the MC portfolio. It can be used optimally as filler due to its low density in combination with its high adhesion and moisture compatibility.
With the MC-Mixmachine TB Pro, ombran introduced at the RO-KA-TECH a new version of the automated mixing and dispensing device, which can now hold 6 tubular bags and thus mix up to 3 liters of reaction resin in one operation. This ensures optimal mixing of the material and minimizes operator contact with the resin and the accumulation of packaging material.
MC draws positive overall conclusion
"The RO-KA-TECH is developing more and more to become the central international trade fair for pipe and sewer rehabilitation," says Markus Lebek, Sales Manager Germany / Europe of the ombran department of MC-Bauchemie, and draws a positive overall conclusion: "We were very excited about the great interest in our product systems and have made many interesting contacts."
