Northwest Chapter to Celebrate its 10th Annual Trenchless Technology Symposium in Calgary
Oct 08, 2007
The NASTT-Northwest (NASTT-NW) Chapter is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its Alberta Trenchless Technology Symposium, Nov. 15, at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Calgary section of the NASTT-NW Chapter is organizing the event.
Symposium attendees will learn about the latest in trenchless technology in a product exhibit area during scheduled breaks and the luncheon. Leading manufacturers and suppliers are slated to fill the exhibit area with cutting-edge technologies, products and services.
The technical program will cover areas dealing with planning, design, construction and monitoring of trenchless technology projects. Topics include pipe bursting, horizontal directional drilling, tunneling, microtunneling, relining and techniques for remote monitoring and condition assessment of existing buried utilities. Several local project and case studies will be presented.
In addition to a quality technical program, the symposium will offer a special one-day horizontal directional drilling (HDD) short course on Nov. 14. The HDD Short Course is presented in two parts for a full-day of instruction. The first session, instructed by Dr. Samuel T. Ariaratnam, is based on the HDD Good Practices Guidelines manual, an industry- driven document providing contractors, engineers and owners with a set of guidelines to assist in successful HDD installations and operations. The second session will feature a number of local guest speakers discussing important issues that are of relevance and concern to the owners, project engineers and consultants in the province of Alberta.
The NASTT-NW Chapter is a non-profit organization founded in 1995 and includes the province of Alberta and the state of Washington. NASTT-NW is a regional chapter of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) which is affiliated with the International Society for Trenchless (ISTT). The mission of all three organizations is to promote education and development of trenchless technology for the public benefit.
